While some projects require wood replacement due to rotting or animal holes, rather than calling in another contractor Century Painting and Sons is 100% capable of replacing the rotted areas. We will carefully remove the rotten piece of wood without damaging the other surrounding pieces of wood. In the event a surrounding piece of wood is damaged due to removing the rotten piece, Century Painting and Sons will replace the damaged piece as well as the rotten piece of wood. Although errors are inevitable they do occur and we will correct them. When the rotten wood is removed we will Install a new piece of wood. The new piece of wood will be the same type of wood that we removed (I.E. cedar-cedar).
Also before we do the installation of the new piece, we will oil prime all 6 sides of the piece. Oil Primer protects the wood from rotting. As you well know oil and water does not mix therefore water can not penetrate into the wood's pores as easy, causing rotting or moisture problems in the future. Once the new piece is installed properly, we will then caulk all of the voids and nail holes insuring moisture can not sneak in behind the piece of wood. When we are finished with the new piece of wood install. The project will be identical to how it looked prior to us removing the rotten piece. Except the rot will not be present, and the new piece will be protected more than the previous piece since we prime the back and all the sides. It will also be the same type of wood and be entirely oil primed and caulked completely insuring the best possible protection against future moisture issues.
